Why upgrade your BMW N55 intercooler and downpipe
Hot intake air kills power. Our bar and plate core with flowed cast end tanks maximises charge air cooling and minimises pressure drop, delivering colder intake air temperatures and rock solid performance run after run. Pairing this with a free flowing T304 stainless steel decat downpipe reduces backpressure, sharpens throttle response and lets the turbo breathe for faster spool and a more aggressive exhaust note.

Real world testing on multiple vehicles shows outstanding results. Through five back to back road pulls, intercooler inlet temperatures were 135 to 140 degrees on both the factory and this upgraded unit. Measured at the outlet into the engine, the factory intercooler delivered 75 to 80 degrees, whereas this intercooler consistently produced outlet temps in the high 20s across all five runs. That means consistent power and repeatable performance when it matters.
We would go as far as to say this is the best intercooler on the market for these models. We run this set up ourselves and customer feedback has been excellent, with noticeably stronger and more consistent performance.
Decat downpipe specification and benefits

Tested gains of approximately 10 to 15 bhp have been observed with the decat downpipe. For most applications we recommend adding a lambda sensor spacer to help prevent an engine light in many cases. These are available separately in our other items.

Installation
This kit is a direct fit and there are helpful installation videos available online. Professional installation is recommended. Typical fitting time for the intercooler is around 1 to 2 hours. Exhaust fitment tolerances can vary slightly by car, but customer feedback on this downpipe has been that it is straightforward to install.
