Engineered and enhanced for power and spool
TTE begins with a brand new N55 turbocharger and transforms it using a much larger TTE billet compressor wheel featuring thin-blade geometry for extremely high flow relative to size and a wide, efficient compressor map. The compressor cover is machined to optimised tolerances and the intake pipe is enlarged and ported to smooth incoming airflow. A curved clipped turbine reduces blade area to increase gas flow, lowering back pressure and exhaust gas temperatures, allowing safer higher boost levels. Removing material also lightens the turbine to reduce rotational mass and improve response. The result is a BMW N55 hybrid turbo that delivers fast spool, strong midrange and impressive top-end power.
Precision balancing for reliability
Every TTE460 is balanced with extreme care. Individual components are balanced at slow speed up to 2,800 RPM in multiple planes, then the fully assembled CHRA is dynamically balanced up to 250,000 RPM on TTE’s in-house VSR equipment. Each turbocharger is supplied with a serial-numbered balance test document. This attention to detail improves longevity, performance and acoustics.
