Engineering details
The central hat is CNC machined from U.S. sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminium. The discs use Girodisc’s proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined in-house. A floating mount system with 10 high strength alloy steel drive pins, cadmium plated for corrosion resistance, manages axial and radial float between hat and ring. Class 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers secure the assembly. Anti-noise spring washers allow thermal growth without the cold rattle often associated with floating rotors, and help the rotor self-centre between the pads.
