BMW’s factory oil cooler on the 135i/335i is small at 8.75 x 4.75 x 1 inches, giving just 41 cubic inches of core volume. ER’s Competition Series uses two coolers, each with a 9 x 8 x 2 inch core (11 x 8 x 2 inches overall), so each side is 144 cubic inches. Combined, that is 288 cubic inches of core – over 700 percent more than stock. Developed over three years of racing and testing, this system has been shown to keep oil temperatures stable, helping eliminate the dreaded limp mode caused by high oil temps on tuned and hard-driven N54/N55 cars.

Through extensive development, Evolution Racewerks’ Competition Series Twin Oil Cooler has kept oil temperatures in check on track, even in high ambient conditions, helping to prevent limp mode. Testing and race use reported stable oil temperatures and consistent performance, with testing noting no adverse effect from the Type III hard anodised finish. This is a genuine performance solution for fast road, track day and time attack use.
Type III hard anodised black option
Choose the stealthy Type III hard anodised black finish to strengthen the fins against road debris. This finish helps the cores better resist damage from stones and gravel compared with standard finishes, with testing showing no noticeable ill-effect on performance.
Smarter cooling with sequential flow
Unlike traditional split systems that send half the oil to each cooler, ER’s CNC-machined oil filter housing adapter routes oil sequentially through both coolers. That means 100 percent of the oil is cooled twice, improving stability, reducing heat soak and maximising cooling efficiency.

Important notes
- We supply stainless steel braided lines as standard. Nylon lines are available on request but are more susceptible to abrasion if routed poorly. Abrasion damage to nylon lines is not covered under the limited lifetime warranty.
Early 2006 BMW 335i without a factory oil cooler
Some early 2006 335i models were built without an OEM oil cooler. A conversion to a later oil filter housing with external ports is required. Genuine BMW parts are available to complete this conversion, including oil filter housing, oil cooler thermostat housing, gaskets and hardware.
