The included Forge BOV is the largest displacement valve Forge have produced, using a 50 mm aluminium piston rather than a diaphragm design. It is built to move serious air with impressive reliability, and we have yet to find its power handling limit. We have supplied and fitted this kit on many customer N54 builds, and feedback on fit, finish and performance has been excellent.
Spring and shim guidance
For most BMW N54 applications we recommend the Blue Spring with 6.3 mm shim, targeting approximately 10 psi at idle vacuum. If you have measured your inlet manifold vacuum and it is significantly different, select springs accordingly. Measurements should be taken at normal operating temperature with a quality pressure gauge at idle for accuracy.
You can add the optional 10 mm shim to switch between approximately 10 psi and 11 psi to suit your setup and preference.
Please note: To determine the correct spring, measure your inlet manifold pressure.
Optional extras
Consider replacing the OEM throttle body C-clip and O-ring if the originals are missing, damaged or perished. Fresh sealing hardware helps prevent boost leaks on the N54 charge system.
