Construction and materials
The rotor rings are made from Girodisc proprietary cast iron and feature a race-developed curved vane internal structure that pumps air through the disc for maximum cooling. The central hat is CNC machined from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminium to reduce heat transfer to the hub. The rotor and hat are joined by 12 Girodisc-manufactured cadmium-plated alloy steel drive pins secured with class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers. This floating system lets the disc expand and contract under heat load, self-centre between the pads and maintain a consistent pedal.
