Engineering and manufacturing detail
Stone Exhaust employs state of the art 3D flow velocity measurement, reverse engineering via 3D scanning of OEM components, and a one piece mandrel bent pipe design. Mechanical welding arms are used to eliminate weld intrusions that can cause vapor lock and disrupt exhaust gas velocity. The result is a high efficiency catless downpipe that minimises weld joints, maximises turbine efficiency and delivers consistent, repeatable fitment across BMW B46 applications.
7 axis CNC bending ensures excellent roundness and minimal outer bore wear even at tight 180 degree bends, preventing airflow obstruction and weld stress. Combined with crisscross and overlapping welding at the turbo flange, this downpipe is designed to withstand the thermal loads typical of B46 turbocharged engines.
