Engineering and build quality
Stone Exhaust reverse engineers each application by 3D scanning the OEM downpipe to map diameter, routing and bend angles, then uses CFD style simulation to analyse exhaust gas flow, thermal load and pressure zones. The result is a BMW N20 downpipe that optimises spool, flow and durability.
Precision 7 axis CNC bending maintains up to 98 percent roundness and limits outer bore thinning even at 180 degrees, reducing turbulence and preventing weld fractures. Combined with direct spot welding by mechanical arms and crisscross plus overlapping weld techniques at the turbo flange, this downpipe is built to withstand 800 to 1100 degrees Celsius at the hottest junctions.
