Why upgrade your BMW intercooler
The factory BMW tube and fin intercooler is fine for stock boost and airflow, but once tuned it heat soaks quickly. That means rising intake temps, timing pull and power fade. Real-world temperature control
The OEM intercooler commonly rises 80 to 90 degrees during a 2nd to 5th gear pull. In VRSF’s logged testing on a F10 535i at 54 degrees ambient, the VRSF Race HD FMIC increased intake temperature by only 2 degrees at the same 20 psi boost where the OEM rose 76 degrees. Lower intake temps help reduce knock and pre-detonation risk while improving reliability and performance.
